ALL schools and early years settings in Shetland are closed again today (Wednesday), Shetland Islands Council has confirmed this morning.
Further snowfall overnight have made many roads impassable. The cold weather is forecast to continue for the rest of the week. There is a Met office yellow weather warning for snow in place until 10 am.
The Hame fae Hame nursery in Scalloway is also closed as will be all SIC youth clubs.
As some schools are now closed for the third consecutive day, secondary pupils, especially those in S4, S5 and S6, are encouraged to log on to MS Teams for remote learning and support from school staff.
There is widespread disruption to public bus services and latest updates are available on the Council’s Voicebank on 01595 745744.

The first scheduled flight from Aberdeen landed at Sumburgh Airport this morning (Wednesday) at about 8.20 after some significant disruptions on Tuesday when the first scheduled plane came only in at 4.30pm. The photo below shows the airport busy late into the evening with the Edinburgh flight coming in close to 9pm.
