FILMING for the Shetland crime drama will move to Lerwick’s Esplanade and Commercial Street on Tuesday (31 August).

The times for the Esplanade will be 2pm to 4.30pm and 4.30pm to 7pm for Commercial Street (see diagrams below).

Producer ITV Shetland has secured consent from Shetland Islands Council for traffic management.

The restrictions on the Esplanade will be managed by a temporary ‘stop/go’ process, with traffic (including pedestrians) ordinarily being held for no more than a few minutes at a time, allowing crew to safely and successfully carry out the actual filming process.

“Although the subsequent closure on Commercial St is a full one, the closure points will remain manned at all times so as to allow disabled access, access to private and commercial properties and to help facilitate any urgent deliveries to commercial businesses in the area,” Shetland location manager Davie Gardner said.

“A letter drop will also be done to all the businesses potentially affected by this containing full details of these restrictions.

“Once again apologies for any temporary inconvenience this may cause to either drivers or pedestrians.”

The filming of the seventh series of the popular crime drama kicks off tomorrow afternoon (Monday) when the first scenes will be filmed at Lerwick’s Gardie Lane. For details on restrictions, click here.

Anyone with questions or issues relating to these restrictions should contact Davie Gardner – Location Manager Shetland – on 07867 654 509.
