More than 37 per cent of local population have received first Covid vaccine dose

MORE than 7,000 people in Shetland have now received their first dose of the Covid vaccine.

NHS Shetland chairman Gary Robinson said at a meeting of the health board on Tuesday morning that this amounted to 37.6 per cent of the eligible population.

The figure is correct as of Monday morning.

Robinson warned, however, that the rate is expected to decrease soon as more people receive their second dose.

At the weekend a second mass vaccination centre opened at the Gilbertson Park games hall.
