Snow closes all schools today

ALL SCHOOLS are closed in Shetland today (Tuesday) as the wintry weather is set to stay for a few more days.

Shetland Islands Council said this morning that due to the wintry conditions the decision was made to keep all school and early years settings closed.

The Hame Fae Hame nursery in Scalloway will also be closed.

There is widespread disruption to public transport services. These are published in our Transport Notification section at the top of the website as well as below:

Ferry services across Bluemull Sound are operating again after earlier disruptions due to blocked roads. Updates can be listened to on 01595 743971. Inter-island flights from Tingwall are off today for a second day in a row.

There has been overnight snowfall across many parts of Shetland and there is a forecast for continued cold weather with the risk of more snow.

The Shetland Museum and Archives has confirmed it will close today.
